It flies by your head with a whistle, as it’s quickly dodged, the next one is blocked. On August 2nd, Dodgeball teams from around the state made their way to Cadillac Square in the heart of Detroit for the Fourth Annual Dodgeball Tournament benefiting the Boy Scouts of America’s outreach programs.

Detroit has dodged its way through tough times. Its comeback is built on true community events like the 2018 Dodge for Detroit, that aims to support, lead and guide the youth of Detroit.

This unique event, organized by the Michigan Crossroads Council, helps to provide the tools necessary to develop character, leadership skills and lifelong values to roughly 5,000 of Southeast Michigan’s most socioeconomically disadvantaged youth.

Last year, Midwest Mobility Solutions | AT&T (MMS) doubled their buy in, doubling the number of children impacted. A total of 40 children benefited from this generous effort. The event also raised more than $40,000 last year. The goal this year is even bigger.

MMS has invited 100 of its top leaders to participate in the event, including store managers, district managers, small business managers back office leaders, company principals and owners.

Other sponsors include Nimbus9, Gadget Guard, Speck, Scooch, Qmadix, and iWalk. Detroit’s own Mojo in the Morning is official MC.

Media coverage from FOX 2 Detroit.
